Current state of research and teaching activities

There has been increasing interest in a class of ionic solids that exhibit high ionic conductivity far below their melting points. Solid state devices of solid state ionics have been much in demand from various points of view. The studies of the microscopic structures and the dynamic properties of solid state ionics are important in understanding the mechanism of the conduction of ions. Our research is to extract the microscopic structure and the dynamic characteristic of solid state ionics by X-ray and neutron scattering measurements, and to solve the mechanism of conduction.
